Health Policy and Communities
The Health Policy and Communities research program translates integrative medicine research into actionable policy recommendations and community-level health interventions. This program addresses the broader systemic factors that influence population health, including healthcare delivery models, reimbursement structures, community health infrastructure, and social determinants of health.
Major initiatives include the Wellness Initiative for the Nation (WIN), which provides comprehensive policy recommendations for shifting national health strategy toward prevention and wellness, and the Wellbeing in the Nation measurement framework for assessing population health beyond traditional disease metrics.
The program examines how integrative medicine principles can inform healthcare policy at local, state, and national levels, advocating for evidence-based approaches that promote health optimization rather than solely disease treatment.
Through partnerships with policymakers, healthcare leaders, and community organizations, this program ensures that the Institute’s research findings contribute to meaningful improvements in healthcare systems and population health outcomes.
